Abstract EN
The factors controlling the percent modulation of two audio-frequency signals are studied.
The second derivative of the negative-ion curmt collected by a cylindrical electrical probe contributes the highest percent modulation when the retardation conditions are acquired in the plasma.
The effcct of the higher even derivatives on modulation is negligible compared to the second derivative, with the exception of the fourth derivative which has an appreciable component.
On the other hand, under accelerating conditions in the plasma all the high odd derivatives have a small effect on modulation - less than 5% -compared to the first derivative which is a measure of the carriei frequency.
