Abstract EN

Geostatistical characteristics of Cu % and Zn % for Jabal Sayid and Zn % for Al- ‘Amar polymetallic sulfide deposits associated with the Precambrian rocks in the Arabian Shield are described.

The former represents sulfide deposits of a volcanosedimentary massive type and the latter a hydrothermal vein type.

The statistical analysis of the data revealed that the frequency distributions for these variables could be represented by lognormal models.

The results of geostatistical analysis indicate that sphcrical models could, appropriately, be fitted to all experimental semivariograms from both Jabal Sayid and Al-‘ Amar deposits.

How- ever.

the models fitted to the vertical and horizontal semivariograms of both Cu % and Zn % from Jabal Sayid are of simple spherical with some discontinuity at the origin, whereas those fitted to Zn % semivariograms from Al-‘Amar are of compound spherical with zero nugget variances.

One further difference between these models is that Al-‘ Amar semivariograms have given ranges consistently greater than those for Jabal Sayid.

These differences in the geostatis- tical characteristics of variables may reflect the differences in the nature of mineralizations between these deposits.
