Abstract EN
This paper presents results of investigation on the use of a static cone penetrometer for predicting densities of two air dry granular soils.
Cone penetration resistance values (qc) were measured for soil specimens prepared at specific densities with different surcharge loads.
Linear regression techniques were utilized to develop correlations between values of (qc)' surcharge loads and depths of penetration.
Calibration curves to be used for predicting densities are given on the basis of tests data.
A procedure is outlined for use of the penetrometer in determining soil densities.
