English Abstract
Using saliva to measure different biochemical components is considered very vital medically and for patients themselves.
The objective of this research is to find out the possibility of determining the biochemical components using saliva.
To accomplish this objective a random sample composed of 79 subjects were taken.
Blood and saliva samples were collected from each subject.
The samples were analyzed in lab for the biochemical: UA, GPT, UR, GOT, Na+, K+, TP, CRN, CHO, FBG, and TG.
The results showed that most of biochemical components show high correlation between saliva and serum results.
The highest correlation was recorded for UA, GPT, UR, GOT, Na+, K+.
Moderate correlation was recorded for TP, CRN, CHO, FBG, while the least correlation was recorded for TG.
The results have shown that serum results can be predicted using models with saliva.
The models indicated that most biochemical components can be predicted except for TG which showed very low predictability power.
The study recommended the use of saliva for the prediction of biochemical components and to build tables that connect the serum biochemical components results with saliva ones.
