English Abstract

This research presents a new covert channel for secret communications; this channel provides more stealthiness for the communication channel and an efficient method for hiding messages, as proved by our investigation.

The new covert channel for transferring secret messages has been done in two phases.

In phase one, the message characters will be embedded randomly into the pixels of video frames, the choice of pixels depends on finding the identical value of the character ASCII representation with identical byte value of message from one of the pixel channels.

The positions of pixels bytes value will form the stego-key, which will be used later to extract the message.

The stego-key will be embedded in an image using LSB steganography technique.

In phase two, the secret message will be exchanged between the communicating parties by sharing the video file along with the stego-key over a public service (social network), which serves as the new covert communication channel. The data hiding method in this research will implement a new application layer covert channel, by applying multimedia steganographic techniques to hide secret messages, which has many advantages than other existing methods.

The implementation proves the success of the proposed covert channel in exchanging secret messages without arising suspicion by observers or detection tools.
