English Abstract

This research focused on determining the level of awareness regarding data location among the IT professionals working in government as well private organizations (such as banks, insurance companies, etc.) in the Kingdom of Jordan.

Furthermore, the research also focused on exploring and analyzing the adoption of cloud computing in the Kingdom of Jordan.

Different concepts related to topics, such as cloud computing, data location, data theft, data protection, IT compliance, etc.

were explored through this study.

Based on quantitative research method, surveys were conducted focused on seeking answers to the research questions.

The research findings suggest that there is significant lack of awareness among IT professional in Jordan regarding data location.

Furthermore, the research findings highlighted major barriers, which include: data protection and privacy issues, integration in existing systems, legal compliance, physical control, geographic proximity and existing infrastructure.

Along with this, the research findings also highlighted major benefits of implementing cloud computing, including, huge costs savings, low maintenance costs, increase collaboration and information sharing, increased reach, etc.
