English Abstract

We have investigated pure and doped with cobalt and titanium strontium ferrite powders prepared by the mechanical alloying method.

The prepared samples were heat treated at several temperatures.

The structure, morphology and magnetic properties of the prepared samples were investigated. It has been found that the intensive formation of strontium ferrite started at annealing temperature of 900 C.

Also, XRD and magnetic data revealed that the optimum conditions to obtain high quality (single phase) samples of strontium ferrite are milling time 15 hour, annealing temperature 1100C, and annealing time duration of 2 hours. It was found that doping of strontium ferrite with Co-Ti leads to a delay in the formation of strontium ferrite compound.

Also it was found that doping of strontium ferrite with Co-Ti leads to significant decrease in the coercivity as a result of the Co-Ti substitution of Fe3+. The pure samples have a coercivity five times of the coercivity of doped samples at 1100 C.

Such a dramatic drop in coercivity was referred to a decrease in the switching filed distribution.

In this work it was found that Delta M curves are negative for both pure and doped strontium ferrite samples.

Also delta M value for the pure sample is greater (in the negative direction) than for the doped one, which suggests that doping with Co-Ti leads to decrease in the process of clusters formation.
