English Abstract

Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) has been increasingly used in a variety of industrial applications, that require fast dynamic response and accurate control over wide speed ranges.

Therefore, this work proposes high performance Field Oriented Control (FOC), which is a closed loop control to improve dynamic performance of the PMSM as well as enhance precision and range of speed control.

This work proposes the use of Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) technique, which is an advance and modern technique, and it is considered the best among the PWM techniques according to harmonics effect and losses.

A MATLAB/SIMULINK program is prepared for simulating the overall drive system which including (PMSM, SVPWM generation, inverter, controller and the reference frame transformation).

The main objective of this work is to investigate the performance of PMSM under different operating condition and to propose Artificial Intelligence (AI) controller to enhance the performance of PMSM during different loads and speed conditions.

Three types of controllers are used in this work; the first controller is the Proportional-Integral (PI) based on classical trial and error method, the second controller is PIcontroller based on PSO technique for optimal gains tuning to improve the performance of the system.

The results prove the improvement of PI-PSO performance as compared to classical PI-controller.

The third controller is Fuzzy-PI with scaling factor (gains) tuned by PSO technique which improves the performance of the system compared with PI-PSO in terms of reducing steady state error, rising time, overshoot and smoother response which make this controller more robust to variation in load other than the rest controllers.
