English Abstract
This thesis deals with the dynamic analysis of deep foundations on uniform dry sand experimentally and numerically by the finite element method.
The numerical analysis involves the displacement response under the effect of dynamic loads of harmonic vertical mode of vibration.
The aim of the study is to analyze the dynamic response of machine foundations.
In addition to simulate the machine on deep foundation numerically by using the finite element method.
The experimental works are conducted on a deep foundation with two groups of piles and single pile.
The deep foundation consists of piles which are made of reinforcement concrete.
Twelve tests are carried out using a dry sand of relative density 32.5% corresponding to a dry unit weight of 15 kN/m3.
For each test, the displacement response is measured at the edge and center of the foundation.
The numerical modeling using a three-dimensional formulation for the prototype model is adopted to simulate the experimental model.
The behavior of the soil and concrete material is considered linear elastic.
The type of the element used to discretize the soil – foundation system is a brick element.
The results from the numerical model showed that a good agreement is achieved between the predicted dynamic response and measured response of the experimental model.
A case study is carried out to investigate the effect of frequency, length of pile, spacing between piles, and pile cap size on the dynamic response.
In addition three types of sand (loose, medium and dense) are considered.
