English Abstract

This thesis describes the use of blind equalizer techniques to compensate for inter symbols interference (ISI) that results when digital data is transmitted over channel.

This work covers blind algorithms for equalization including both constant modulus algorithm(CMA) and modified constant modulus algorithm (MCMA) beside explain different hybrid algorithms.

This work focus also on the effect of adjusting step size in these algorithms.

These equalizer structures and algorithms will be modeled using various simulation modules.

Equalization for both telephone and mobile channel is considered.

A new proposed method for adjust step size based on combing the absolute error with iteration number to adjust a step size used in the modified constant modulus algorithm (MCMA) for two different QAM schemes.

Simulations for this proposed algorithm show that both equalizer structures provide better BER performance over a system with no equalization.

It is observed from the simulation results that the proposed blind equalizer algorithm (CIAE-MCMA) can speed up convergence rate and can decrease the steady state mean square error and performs significantly better than the conventional fixed-step MCMA approach and other variable step size algorithms .
