English Abstract

The reactive power dispatch can be considered the main problem that suffers in the electrical systems, especially, the increase of the demand on the electric power more than the generation power.

This phenomenon is considered the most important reason of failure of the power supply in the electric energy systems.

The work permeates of the reactive power dispatch amount that is pulled from network.

This work intends to reduce the real power losses according to make the adjustment to the variable of the reactive power using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique with reactive power dispatch and using this suggested technique in 6 bus and 03 bus to test the result after that implement in the Iraqi Grid System (033kV).

This technique is used in order to minimize the power loss based on intelligent technique.

The simulation results obtained were compared with other techniques such as Genetic Algorithm (GA) .

The proposed technique shows an effectiveness to minimize the power loss in terms of controlling variables such as bus voltage, transformer tap setting and capacitor bank switching.

The simulation programming is implemented using MATLAB (Version 1.7).
