English Abstract
Jordan has seen a significant expansion in the commercial sector in recent years, leading to increased consumption of electricity, which in turn leads to increased emissions of carbon dioxide that causes global warming, with the ratio of electricity consumption 17% in 2012, an increase of 11.7 % from 2011. The calculations for the next ten years that are based on previous years where the amount of consumption in 1987 was 292 GWh reached the amount of 2427 GWh at 2012.
If the same consumption up, the estimated consumption by the year 2032 will be 8600 GWh. This research concluded that the three services most major energy-consuming devices are the air conditioning, refrigeration systems as well as lighting.
The Power consumed in these devices rates 39.5 %, 27.7 % and 18.4% respectively. Four scenarios were adopted for maximizing the power saving, It is found that the fourth scenario is the best among them, which shows a save of 15704 GWh in electricity consumption, reduction of up to 8480.2 metric tons in emissions of CO2 and the amount of the bills saving will be 1.9938 million JD.
