Abstract EN

This research aimed at finding out the relationship between conflict management strategies used by public secondary school principals in Jordan and teachers' organizational commitment.

The sample consisted of 560 male and female teachers’ drawn from the population of the research.

Two scales were used: the first was for organizational conflict, and the second was for orga^zational commitment in educational organizations.

Validity and reliability of the two scales were found.

The major findings of the research were: (1) ?rincipals used all conflict management strategies, (2) The level of teachers’ organizational commitment was high in two areas: commitment towards the work group, and commitment towards school work, while the same level was on average in the other two areas, i, e.: commitment towards teaching profession, and commitment towards school, (2).

There was sigrificant positive relationship at (a < 0.01) between conflict management strategies (avoiding, obliging, dominating, and compromising) used by the public secondary school principals and the level of teachers’ organizational commitment, from teachers’ point of view.

The findings showed that the relationship between integrating strategy and the level of organizational commitment was positive relationship but not significant at (a < 0.05).

One of the recommendations was: presenting in-service training programs to train teachers and principals to develop the skill of conflict m^agement.
