تتفحص هذه الدراسة التمييز الذكوري ضد المرأة في قصة P) A and) للكاتب " جون ابدايك "، و تبين أن ما يبدو في هذه القصة على أنه إظهار و تقدير للأنثى يخفي في ثناياه أيدلوجيا ذكورية بحتة.
فبينما تظهر النساء على السطح في أنهن العامل الأساس في التطور الحضاري، و التحرر، و الثورة على التخلف و التقاليد الباليه- و في استنهاض همم الرجل للقيام بذلك- و على أنهن مدافعات عن حقوق المرأة، و ثائرات على النمط التقليدي في حياتها، نجد أنه في جوهر النص تبقى هؤلاء النساء سجينات التفكير النمطي الذكوري المعادي للمرأة، و المقلل من شأنها : وعاء للجنس، و قاتلة للرجل بإغرائها الجسدي له.
و يمكن الكشف عن هذه الأيدلوجيا المختفية في ثنايا النص الأدبي، من خلال تبني منهج نقدي (نسوي) يتفحص الجوانب التالية في النص الذكوري : صورة المرأة و دورها و وصف جسدها بالتركيز على أعضاء منفصلة لأسباب جنسية محضة، و من ناحية أخرى الكشف عن الأنماط السردية المفرطة في تبني وجهة نظر الرجل في تصوير المرأة و المغرقة في عدائها لها، و التقليل من شأنها، و إظهارها على أنها سبب فشله و انهياره.
و تحدد الدراسة جوانب هذا الأسلوب النقدي و خصائصه، و تقترح أن يصبح منهجا في دراسة موضوع المرأة في النص الذكوري عموما.
Abstract EN
This study examines the sexuality of the text (sexism) in John Updike’s A and P, and argues that the superficial celebration of the female in the story hides a serious masculine sexist ideology.
Superficially, women are agents of civilization, transformation, and rebellion; they are feminists who revolt against traditional women’s roles.
But a contrapuntal reading against the grain reveals that these feminist rebels remain prisoners of cultural anti-feminist stereotyping: a sexual object and a seductive femme fatale who causes the destruction of man.
Such hidden ideology can be uncovered by adopting a reading strategy that targets the following aspects in the story: sex-as-content, represented in images and roles of women and fragmentation of the female body, and sex-as-technique, represented in focalization in narrative style and gendered narrative patterns.
And such strategy is proposed as a tool for feminist reading of male-authored literary texts.
