Abstract EN

The tank transform procedure in completely random designs with one-way treatment structure is discussed.

An asymptotic representation of the ranks of observations is given in completely randomized designs with one-way treatment structure which suggests that ranks may behave similar to independent observations in the one-way analysis of variance.

The usefulness of this representation is shown in small and moderate sample sizes through approximate power computations for the Wilcpxon rank sum test.

Two approximations to the power are proposed which show an improvement over an existing approximation.
