Over the last decade, most electricity industry around the world has been moved from monopoly utilities to restructured competitive electricity markets.

Indian power market is trading with power transactions through power exchanges established in 2008.

Practically Indian power market structure consists of the central power share, state generation and power producers.

This paper describes the methodology to utilize the central share and state owned generation in addition with the power procured from the power producers to meet the daily load demand.

The methodology is demonstrated in the Indian utility system to determine the market clearing price for the various load conditions.
