Arabic Abstract

إن عملية ترتيب الجامعات أصبحت مهمة لأنها أداة لتقييم مؤسسات التعليم العالي و لتقييم الجودة الأكاديمية.

لكن مؤسسات التعليم العالي تواجه تحديات مالية لأنها تعتمد على عناصر مالية خارجية للبقاء و الاستمرار مثل رسوم الطلبة و الدعم المالي من الحكومة و القطاع الخاص.

لذا فإن الناتج الإجمالي المحلي GDP لأي دولة يؤثر على المساعدات المالية للجامعات من قبل الحكومة و المصادر الأخرى.

استخدم تحليل الإنحدار البسيط لفحص العلاقة بين الناتج الإجمالي المحلي و ترتيب أعلى 100 جامعة عربية.

بينت النتائج أنه لا يوجد أثر للناتج الإجمالي المحلي على ترتيب أعلى 100 جامعة عربية، لكن عند استثناء جامعات فلسطين من عينة الدراسة، تبين أن هناك أثر ذو دلالة إحصائية عند مستوى ثقة 90%، و أن هذا الأثر عكسي.

English Abstract

The application of ranking to university activities has become unavoidable, because it is a new tool for the evaluation of higher education institutions and to assess academic quality.

Higher Education institutions face financial challenges because it depends on external elements for financial survival; including tuition payments, funds from the government, and private sector.

Therefore, Gross Domestic Product GDP for a nation affects the financial funds from government and other resources to universities.

Simple regression is used to determine the relationship between gross domestic product (GDP) and the number of top ranked universities per Arab Countries.

The results reveal that the number of top ranked universities per Arab Countries is not affected by GDP, but after excluding Palestine universities from the sample, results reveal that the number of top ranked universities per Arab Countries decreases with GDP.
