Abstract EN

The analgesic drug nefopam reacts in superacidic media to form a dicationic superelectrophiles by ring opening.

The dication species is capable of reacting with arenes in Friedel-Crafts-type conversions.

This chemistry is used to prepare novel derivatives of nefopam.
