Abstract EN

A unified cohesive zone model is proposed.

By introducing a parameter which denotes the ductility of the material, the proposed model can be used to simulate both brittle and ductile fracture.

No fitting experimental data is needed in calibrating the parameters of the proposed model, and this leads to a high predictive ability of the model.

Several numerical examples for brittle and ductile materials are given using finite element method.

The good agreement between numerical results and experimental data proves the applicability and accuracy of the proposed cohesive zone model.
