Governance is today one of the concerns of the international business community after several events that took place during the last two decades, especially the transition of most economies to open market system and the adoption of economic liberalization policy, not to mention the environmental threats and the near depletion of fossil fuel reserves and global climate change, which goes today hand in hand with economic objectives sought by each institution, for all that, there is an agreement on the importance of governance.

The oil companies are major institutions, which face many challenges : improve their performance and increase their competitiveness and protect of the environment and achieve sustainable development, and from this perspective it is necessary to adopt a rational governance policy in these institutions of a special nature in order to improve its competitiveness on the one hand and make them socially and environmentally responsible on the other hand, still preserving oil.
