Abstract EN

The dates became the main commodity in the annual exports from Basrah to USA since the late decades of the 19th Century.

Then this trade flourished at the beginning of the next century, but effected by epidemics which were spreading from time to time in Basrah and its vicinity.

This paper deals with these effects on the trade during the preparing of dates for exportation and when the American authorities put some restrictions on importation of dates to their ports.
