Arabic Abstract

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى البحث في إثر دافعية التعلم على الاستيعاب القرائي في اللغة الإنجليزية لدى طلبة المرحلة الأساسية الدنيا في الأردن، حيث حاول الباحث أن يبين العلاقة بين الدافعية و الاستيعاب القرائي باستخدام الاختبار الكتابي و الاختبار الشفوي و الاستبانة، لجمع البيانات الخاصة لهذه الدراسة و تحليلها.

أما بالنسبة لمجتمع الدراسة فقد تكون من جميع طلاب و طالبات المرحلة الأساسية الدنيا لمتعلمي اللغة الإنجليزية لغة أجنبية في المدارس الحكومية في مديرية تربية إربد الأولى خلال الفصل الدراسي الثاني للعام الدراسي ٢٠٠٥ / ٢٠٠٦ حيث قام الباحث باختيار عينة الدراسة المكونة من ١٠٥ من طلاب و طالبات المرحلة الأساسية الدنيا في مدارس كفريوبا الحكومية للذكور و الإناث.

ومن أهم ما توصلت إليه هذه الدراسة من نتائج : - وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية تعزى لأثر الجنس على كل من الاختبارين الكتابي و الشفوي لصالح الإناث.

- وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية تعزى لأثر الدافعية على كل من الاختبارين الكتابي و الشفوي لصالح الطلبة ذوي الدافعية المرتفعة.

- وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية تعزى لأثر التفاعل بين الجنس و الدافعية على كل من الاختبارين الكتابي و الشفوي لصالح الإناث ذوات الدافعية المنخفضة و المرتفعة.

وفي ضوء ما سبق تمخضت هذه الدراسة عن التوصيات التالية لكل من المعلمين و الباحثين، حيث أوصت المعلمين بما يلي : - بذل الجهود الشخصية لاستخدام أساليب و طرق مختلفة و جذابة من أجل زيادة دافعية الطلبة داخل غرفة الصف.

- استخدام أدوات فعالة لقياس الدافعية داخل غرفة الصف.

- تعديل و تطوير طرق التدريس و الاختبارات لخلق بيئة تعليمية فعالة للطلاب.

- تعزيز التعلم التنافسي و التعاوني للطلاب و الذي من شأنه أن يرفع من سوية أدائهم.

كذلك أوصت الباحثين بما يلي : - إجراء بحوث مشابهة في أماكن مختلفة في الأردن.

- إجراء بحوث مشابهة لمعرفة أثر الدافعية على مهارات أخرى مثل الاستماع و المحادثة و الكتابة.

English Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of motivation on reading comprehension among lower basic stage pupils in English.

This study also attempts to reveal the potential relationship between motivation and reading comprehension.

The researcher has carried out the investigation through the use of three instruments (a written test, an oral test and a questionnaire).

These instruments were used to collect the data of the study.

The population of the study consists of all male and female lower basic stage pupils in the public schools of Irbid First Directorate of Education during the second semester of the academic year 2005/2006.

The researcher selected a sample of 105 pupils from all the basic third-grade pupils in Kufur-Youba public schools for boys and girls.

This study revealed the following results: • There are statistically significant differences which can be attributed to sex, in favor of females in both the oral and written tests.

• There are statistically significant differences which can be attributed to motivation level, in favor of the high- motivation group in both the oral and written tests.

• There are statistically significant differences which can be attributed to the interaction between motivation level and sex, in favor of females in both the high- and low- motivation groups in both the oral and written tests.

This researcher put forth the following recommendations for teachers and researchers.

Teachers are recommended to: • use different appealing techniques to promote pupils' motivation inside the classroom, • use effective instruments to measure the pupils' motivation, • modify their teaching and testing methods to promote classroom decisions that result in effective learning environments for all pupils, and • encourage competitive and cooperative learning among pupils inside the classroom, which can increase their achievement.

Researchers are recommended to conduct • similar survey research in other parts of Jordan, and • similar survey research using other language skills (listening, speaking and writing).
