English Abstract
Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) becomes essential in ensuring security of increasing number of applications on the Internet and in the development of applications like Web Services.
It is becoming very important to provide an effective meaning of publishing certificates revocation information in a scalable and timely manner.
In Cross-Domain security when a certificate is presented to an application, the application determines the revocation status of the certificate by checking whether the certificate is included in the Certificate Revocation List (CRL) that the Certification Authority (CA) published.
For security purposes, publishing CRL information to other CA should be prevented, and CRL Distribution Points (CRL-DP) are able to be attacked from hackers on the internet.
In this thesis, a new protocol proposed by author called Current Certificate Status Protocol (CCSP) presents a new certificate validation method which provides higher degree of security, and interoperability than the existing approaches.
It securely delivers the current revocation status of the certificates to other CA with cross-certificate systems PKI on the internet, without modifying client-side software.
Moreover, the thesis implements the proposed prototype protocol and evaluates the protocol to prove its performance.
