English Abstract

Electronic biometric systems became available in our life.

Fingerprint recognition as a behavioral biometric plays an important role in this field, because of its widespread acceptance among people, especially in security transactions.

In this thesis, a hybrid algorithm is presented in order to achieve identification and verification based on fingerprint.

The proposed system includes many elements that are integrated to generate the entire system.

Database of 100 person has been introduced and it is codes using MATLAB.

The system compose of three main phases include preprocessing process , then feature extraction which is applied using a combination of Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Discrete Curvelet Transform (DCT) , and finally matching process will be executed to make a decision related to the input fingerprint .

The performance of the proposed system has been evaluated on a database of 100 person and each one has 10 fingerprints so the database composed of 1000 fingerprint images .The high recognition rate achieved by using the proposed system it doesn’t take long response time with high accuracy proved by showing the percentage of matching process.
