Gobarau mosque has a great historical significance in Katsina.
It was built through the efforts of Sarkin Katsina Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Maghili.
Attempt is made in this write up to trace its establishment and how it turned into a centre of Islamic learning which could be rated as a university going by its standards.
Some of its graduates later became Islamic luminaries of international repute, such as Shaykh Danmasani, Shaykh Darmarna, Shaykh al-Kashnawi and host of others we hope to examine also the decline of the Gobarau, and its present status.
