Abstract EN

File genetic improvement programme of Eucalyptus in Morocco was develnpped in 1987.

with intensive collaboration between Morocco forest Service.

Cellulose du Maroc, and AFOCEL (France).

Begining by a phenolypie selection in plantations and old arboreta, in very short time, it has given clones better than seedling witch is the classical material of reproduction.

After that, one hybridation orchard was created with best " plus " trees witch are well adapted to the most important afforestation zones.

Several seed lots were harvested in Australia, natural area of Eucalyptus (spieees.

provenees and progenies).

Conservation gene plantations were made with this materiel to assure perenniality of this programme.

This work was acconipngnied with sylviculture activities like plantation technique, fertilising and forest protection.

'Hie results were very important and have changed completly the economic approch of the Eucalyptus forestry.

Abstract FRE

Le programme iKamelioration genelii|ue des Eucalyptus au Maroc s'est developpe a partir de 19X7.

grace a la collaboration etroite entre 1"Administration des Eaux et Forets et de la Consen'ation des Sols, la Cellulose du Maroc et 1\U'( >CLL (Trance).

Dans nn premier temps, ia selection phenotvpique effeetuee dans les plantations et anciens arboreta, a permis de proposer tres rapidenient des clones de reboisenient superieurs au materiel classique de reproduction a base de semis.

Dans nn deuxieme temps, la creation d'un verger a hybridation a servi a regrouper les meilleurs gemteurs de plusieurs espeees potentiellement inleressantes pour les differentes zones de reboisenient du pays.

Ce programme a permis de developper des tignecs d'amelioration et de selectionner des clones de deuxieme generation.

Enlln la reeolte de plusieurs eenlaines de lots de graines dans Laire miturelle (espeee, provenances.

descendances) a ele realisee.

Les plantations conservatoires de genes instances a partir de ce materiel serviront de references pour le futur et assureront la perennisation du programme.

adaptability, technologie ,..).

Les resultats sunt tres importants et out eompletenient renouvele l'approelie eeonontique du developpement d'un massif de production.

Cot effort doit eependant persister car les avaneees doivont etre eonsolidees el elargies on permanence.

Les gains obteniis varient de XO a 100% au niveau de la productivity eomparativement au semis classique.
