Abstract EN

Fifty cerebrovascular hemiplegic patients (14 females & 36 males) were included in this study.

The aim was to explore the utility of the clinical posturographic pattern in predicting the rehabilitation outcome.

Patients were categorized into 3 groups according to their clinical posturographic patterns (Sensory Organization Test SOT): 22 had vestibular deficit pattern, 13 sensory deficit pattern and 15 were with normal pattern.

The Fugl-Meyer motor score, core area size, total balance score as well as distance walked /minute were assessed before and after 3 months of specialized rehabilitation program as a measure for the rehabilitation outcome.

The study proved a favorable rehabilitation outcome by planning specialized rehabilitation programs based on the clinical posturographic patterns.

However, the prognostic utility of the clinical posturographic patterns could not be proved.
