Abstract EN
Patients with chronic renal failure on haemodialysis may entail specific problems, the most serious one was increased intracranial pressure and progres- sive brain edema as a result of rapid lowering of serum osmolality.
Another major problem was bleeding tendency.
Increased risk of bleeding was duo to uremic bleeding tendency and systemic anticoagulation caused by intermittent heparinization, as well as, drugs which may be used for prevention of fistula thrombosis.
Brain stroke may be a major complication of the patients on dialysis.
The appearance of early manifestations of intracranial changes may be an indicator for brain CT.
CThad been done to 50 patients on haemodialysis and suspected brain stroke.
Seven patients only had normal CT findings, while 43 patients had different CT pathological findings as cerebral hemorrhage, infarction, subara- chnoid hemorrhage and subdural hematoma.
