Abstract EN

A seroepidemiological survey of brucellosis in the Dliofar Region, Sultanate of Oman, showed a high prevalence of antibodies to Brucella spp.

in family contacts of patients diagnosed with possible brucellosis on the basis of clinical findings and serology.

There was no significant difference in the prevalence of antibodies in males and females or children under ten years of age.

In such a population a titer of 1:160 is considered to be too low for the diagnosis of brucellosis and a titer >1:640 is suggested instead.
