111 Ol der to identify the career choice and intended fu-titre location* ofpliysicians, « self-administered question-»aire was distributed to a group of Egyptian junior physi-cians at the end of their internship year after they had been exposed to the clinical aspects ofvarious specialities.
Most intended to specialise in the major disciplines and none opted for family medicine and primary health care.
They also favoured practice in the large citiesfor reasons of in-come and prestige.
It is suggested that the results of this study need to be evaluated I)}' the health care authorities and health plan-tiers to avoid the inflation of certain specialities at tilt' ex-pense of the others by reforming tlie health care system towards integration ofprimary, secondary and tertiary care.
