Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the role of Taibah University in developing the competences necessary to cope with the era of science and technology.

It also aimed to find out the difference regarding the University Teaching Staff's perceptions in relation to their views about the competences of critical thinking, self-learning and scientific research according to the variables of gender, academic specialization and college.

After applying the study tool on the sample, and conducting the necessary statistical treatments, the study results showed a substantial approval of the sample on all the competences regarded in this study.

It was also found that there is no significant statistical differences among the mean scores of Taibah teaching staff responses regarding their perceptions to develop the competences under study due to the variable of gender or college.

On the other hand, there was a statistically significant difference between the professors' responses and the associate professors' responses in favor of the professors'.

Moreover, there was a statistically significant difference between the professors' responses and the assistant professors' responses in favor of the professors' responses.

Finally there was a statistically significant difference between the associate professors' responses and the assistant professors' responses in favor of the associate professors.
