Abstract EN

Objective : to determine serum levels of soluble thrombomodulin for patients with systemic lupus erythematous, systemic sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis and to find out its association with clinical and laboratory parameters.

Methods : this study included three groups of patients with systemic lupus erythematous, systemic sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis (20 patients in each group), together with 10 healthy controls of matched age and sex.

Thrombomodulin levels were measured in the sera of those subjects.

Results : Serum thrombomodulin levels were significantly elevated among the three groups.

It was highest among patients with systemic lupus erythematous and lowest among patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

Conclusion : measurement of serum thrombomodulin may help in evaluation of vascular injury in patients with collagen disease.
