English Abstract

There are two statistically based approaches for quality improvement.

The first of these is the statistical process control (SPC).

The focus of SPC is on identifying assignable causes so that they can be removed, thereby leading to permanent process improvement.

The second approach is based on adjusting the process using information about its current level or deviation from a desired target.

This approach is often called feedback adjustment, and it is a form of engineering process control or EPC.

Feedback adjustment regulates the process to account for sources of variability that cannot be removed by applying the SPC approach.

The objective of this research is to develop a framework that integrates these two important approaches for quality improvement.

The proposed SPC/EPC integration is performed continually in three successive phases, off-line analysis phase, on-line monitoring and detecting phase and integrating SPC / EPC phase.

The proposed approach is applied to data collected from chlorine industry, which progress is monitored by measuring the feed brine solution concentration and the acidity index of samples withdrawn from the ferric brine treatment tank.

This process is poorly automated, subject to several disturbances.

The research concluded that, the plant process engineers are now able to use a valuable decision making tool when the production process is affected by certain disruptions throughout using on-line monitoring and adjusting technique for the key process variables in specified times and using a predication formula to compute the final product quality.
