Faba bean growth, yield and consumptive use under water management and micronutrients application

The field experiments were carried out during the two growing seasons of 2000/2001 and 2001/2002 at the Farm of Giza Agric.

Res., Station to study the effect of water management (irrigation according to the accumulative pan evaportion treatments, APE) and spraying with different concentrations of micronutrients mixture on growth, yield, yield components, seed chemical composition and some water relations of faba bean variety Giza 429.

The main results could be summarized as follows: - Irrigation at 1.0 APE records increased growth, yield, yield components and seed chemical composition.

- Seasonal crop consumptive use increased to its high value (350.67mm) with irrigation at short intervals(1.2 APE ).

The highest Water use efficiency value, i.e.

0.790 kg seeds/m¬3 water consumed was obtained under moderate stress (1.0 APE treatment).

- Growth characters, yield, yield components and water use efficiency were increased by spraying plants with 150ppm of micronutrients mixture.

- Spraying plants with 150 ppm micronutrients mixture increased the crop consumptive use to 360 .0 mm.
