Abstract EN
Anatomical investigations through the stems of one-year-old seed-iings of F.
benjamina infected by N.
mangiferae, showed darkening of tissues of the periderm and parenchyma of both phloem and xylem.
This is in addition to the plugging of some of the xylem vessels and tracheids.
The growth of the fungal hyphae was found to be inside the xylem vessels, and subsequently, sporulation of the fungus was also found to be inside them.
N.
mangiferae is thus considered a typical vascular pathogen.
