Abstract EN
The charaterization of communication channels is important for system performance analysis and design.
The purpose of this paper is to study microwave links in the Southern Region of Saudi Arabia which operate in an environment characterized by heavy fading activity.
A description of these links is also presented.
The experimental procedures used, the testing methodology, and the most important results are discussed.
The results include specifications of the link availability time obtained for all diversity paths.
Most importantly, however, is the statistical description of each channel through its probability distribution and fading stationarity chracteristics.
Using the models obtained in system design should lead to an improvement in performance of the communication systems operating over these links.
