Abstract EN

The wild mint, M longifoli and E.

aromatica powders were tested against the cowpea bettle, Callosobruchus maculatus and the rice weevil, Sitophilus oryzae at the Lc50 and Lc95 levels.

The former was more toxic to both tested insects than the latter and S.

oryzae was more sensitive than C.

maculatus.

The tested powders at the two levels used completely prevented reproductive of the insects tested .

The tested powders at the Lc95 showed a bioresidual activity in killing C.

maculatus adults up to 8 and 50 days for wild mint and clove, respectively.

This residual activity against S.

oryzae was up to 12 and 60 days respectively .

Germination of cowpea seeds and wheat grains treated with both tested powders remained almost equal to the control at all tested periods of storage.
