The Effectiveness of Training Program Based on Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) for Developing Communication Skills of Autistic Children in Nablus, Palestine.

The purpose of the study is to show the effectiveness of training program based on behavior modification procedures to develop communication Skills for autistic children in Palestine.

The population of this study consists of all autistic children in autism centers in Nablus Govenorate, Palestine.

The total number of the sample is of 16 children, 8 males and 8 females.

The researcher used a tool to measure communication skills, both linguistic and non-linguistic, for autistic children.

He proposed to build a training program for the development of the communication skills of children with autism.

The study results : The presence of the effectiveness of the training program for developing communication skills at autistic children between the control group and the experimental group is for the benefit of members of the experimental group.

There are no statistically significant differences at the level (a ≥ 0,05) in the effectiveness of the training program for the development of linguistic communication skills in autistic children due to gender variable.

There are statistically significant differences at the level (a ≥ 0,05) in the effectiveness of the training program for developing non-linguistic communication skills in autistic children due to the training program for members of the experimental group who were exposed to the training program.

There are no statistically significant differences at the level (a ≥ 0,05) in the effectiveness of the training program for the development of linguistic communication skills in autistic children due to gender variable.

The researcher recommends that the program should involve other samples, and to involve other skills.
