الخلفية : لا يمكن تجاهل أهمية دور المعلمين في تعليم صحة الفم٬ و لكن معظم المعلمين غير مدربين لهذه المهمة و لديهم قدرات و استعداد منخفض لذلك.
الأهداف : تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تقييم المعرفة حول تسوس الأسنان و ممارسة تعليم صحة الفم بين معلمي المدارس الأساسية.
أيضا لتحديد مؤشر الأسنان المنخورة٬ المفقودة, و المملوءة و مؤشر صحة الفم.
الطرق : دراسة مقطعية بين 184 من معلمي مدارس الأساس يعملون في المدارس في ولاية الخرطوم.
تم عمل استبيان عن طريق المقابلة يتكون من 15 سؤالا يغطي عاداتهم المرتبطة بنظافة الفم٬ و معرفتهم الأساسية حول تسوس الأسنان٬ و استعدادهم للمشاركة في برامج صحة الفم في المدارس.
النتائج : أظهرت أن متوسط مؤشر الأسنان المنخورة٬ المفقودة و المملوءة 11.59 ± 5.09.
و جرى تقييم حالة النظافة الصحية الفموية عبر مؤشر صحة الفم المبسط٬ و كانت نظافة الفم في 53.3 ٪ جيدة و منصفة في 44 ٪ و في 2.7 ٪ سيئة.
كشف تقييم المعرفة أن 54.9 ٪ يعتقدوا أن تسوس الأسنان ينجم أساسا من طريق البكتيريا و السكريات و يعتقد 31.0 ٪ أن تسوس الأسنان لا يمكن منعه.
وجد ارتباط كبير بين عمر المعلمين و مصدر معلوماتهم حول صحة الفم و الأسنان (القيمة الافتراضية = 0.036).
و فيما يتعلق بالممارسة نحو صحة الفم و الأسنان وجد أن 60.3 ٪ من المعلمين يقضون بعض الوقت لتعزيز معرفتهم بصحة الفم.
الخلاصة : بوجه عام علم معلمي المدارس الأساسية جيد حول تسوس الأسنان و لكن لوحظ وجود بعض أوجه القصور.
Abstract EN
Background: The important role of teachers in oral health education cannot be ignored, but most of teachers are not trained for this task and they have low abilities and willingness for it.
Objectives: This study aimed to assess knowledge about tooth decay and practice towards oral health education among basic school teachers.
Also to determine their decayed, missed and filled tooth index (DMFT) and Oral hygiene index (OHI).
Subjects and Methods: Cross-sectional study among 184 basic school teachers, working in schools in Khartoum province.
An interview questionnaire consisting of 15 questions covering their oral hygiene habits, basic knowledge about tooth decay, willingness to participate in school based oral health programs.
Results: showed that the mean DMFT index was 11.59±5.09.
The oral hygiene condition was assessed via OHI-Simplified, 53.3% had good oral hygiene, 44% fair and 2.7% poor.
Knowledge assessment revealed that 54.9% thought that dental caries is caused mainly by bacteria and sugars and 31.0% believed that tooth decay cannot be prevented.
Significant association was found between teachers’ age and their source of information about oral health (p=0.036).
Regarding practice towards oral health 60.3% of the teachers claimed spending time promoting for oral health.
Conclusion: basic school teachers were generally well informed about tooth decay but some deficiencies were noticed.
