We investigate methods for computing square roots of a unitary ء main result of this work is to compute the principal square root matrix A, when I + A is nonsingular.
One approach introduces a cubically convergent successive approximation scheme to compute B.
The principal square root B enjoys a best approximation property that leads to an alternative approach for computing B.
