Abstract EN

This study aims mainly to study the investment sector and its impact on the movement of the exchange rate and its determinants in Sudan.

The research used descriptive analysis for the variables of the research and followed by statistical and econometric methodologies by using simple regression models through Ordinary Least Square "OLS"to time series data of the research variables from 1980 to 2005.

It's found that the explanatory variables of the research "local investment, saving, balance of payment, foreign investment "is significant of the dependent variable "Exchange Rate ".

The results shown as follows: there is apositive relationship between local investments "I1"as an explanatory variable and exchange rate "E"and it's agreeing with the criteria of economics theory this result confirmed by the value of "t calculated is "However, the result also raveled that there is negative relationship between exchage rate "E"and saving at "S"at level of significant.

The result also show the negative relationship between balance of payment "B"and "E"relationship is identical to the economic theory in spite of insignificant of its parameter where the value.

Ultimately, the results explain the positive relationship between exchange rate "E"and foreign investmet "I2", this result is correct according to economic theory, this result is supported by the significantly of the parameter where.

In concern of the goodness of fit of the model, the result shows that the explanatory variables included in the model interpreted 72% of the change in dependent variable "E".The conclusion is that the policies should focus on seeking for stable policies of exchange rate that may lead to increase the level of local and foreing investment.
