English Abstract

The prevalence of chlamydophila peittaci in the examined turkeys (15-35%), ducks (10-15%), chickens (5%) and pigeons (13.4-28.7%).

The detection of chlamydial infection by real time PCR was more sensitive than the isolation of organism in embryonated chickens eggs or in vero cell culture.

Experimental infection of turkey poults and young ducklings intra tracheal with isolated chlamydophila peittaci from turkeys and ducks respectively
