Isolation and identification of anti-inflammatory and anti-ulcer flavanone from ethyl acetate fraction of Cassia italica leaves

The authors report on the isolation of a flavanone (5, 3`, 4-trihydroxy-7- methoxyflavanone) from the Saudi material of Cassia Italica .The flavonoid was isolated from the ethyl acetate fraction by column chromatography.The structure was elucidated by sensitive analytical tools ( UV, IR, 1H NMR,13C NMR, 1H-1H-COSY NMR and MS).

The flavanone was evaluated ,in vivo,for anti-inflammatory and antiulcer potential and significant results were obtained.
