Searching for the aetiology of chronic renal impairment in patients attending nephrology out-patient clinic of Assiut University Hospital

Patients with various causes of renal impairment constitute a great number of cases attending the nephrology out-patient clinic in Assiut Vniveisity hospital Seventy two patients with varius medical causes of 'chronic renal impairment were included in this study They were subjected to thorough clinical examination and also to laboratory, imagine, and histopathological evaluation .

Primary glome rtihmepliriiis wax found in One third of patients, while secondary renal diseases were found in the other two thirds.

Schistosomiasis UCV infection, diabetes mellitus, polycystic kidney disease hypertension and lupus nephritis were found to be the main causes pr secondary renal diseases Schistosrmiuisis still represents the main cause (39%) that recommend intensification of efforts towards eradication of the causative parasite.
