Abstract EN

A series of thiazolidinones (4a-e) were synthesized using a series of azomethine derivatives prepared via condensation of aromatic aldehydes with aromatic amine (2-(4-aminophenyl)isoindoline-1,3-dione which was then converted to Thiazolidin-4-one derivatives by reaction with mercapto acidic acid in DMF using a small amount of dehydrating agent .All compounds were synthesized under Ultrasound assisted Techniques.

Our results shows that the synthesis of Schiff base and thiazolidinones under Ultrasound irradiation condition is the most efficient method of synthesis having highest yield, shorter reaction time beside using a little amount of solvents.

The structures of products were confirmed by I.R, 1H- and 13C-NMR techniques.
