English Abstract

The aim of this project is to investigate the perspective of Moroccan viewers on TVM (Radiotélédiffosion Marocaine).

This project attempts to find ways to fill the gap be^een TVM programs and Moroccan viewers’ expectations by identifying the point of view of those viewers on the quality of TVM programs.

This work is a short-term project based on a fieldwork that I conducted ط the light of a questionnaire which I gave to a number of respondents in Rabat.

The answers collected provide both qualitative and quantitative information about viewers’ preferences, likes and dislikes of TV pro^ams in general and TVM in particular.

The motivation for the choice of this topic originates from lack of literature dealing with audience studies ط Morocco.

I hope this work will cnntrihute to the enrichment nf research in the media sector in Morocco, which is a vital sector that has been gaining strength in the process of development and democracy in developing countries.

My premise in this project is that TVM’s popularity as a national channel is declining due to the introduction of satellite channels.

However, the results of the fieldwork revealed that despite viewers’ negative evaluation of TVM, they still watch it and cannot do without it because it represents for them the image of Morocco.

Therefore, this work attempts to explore the views of a sample of Moroccan viewers concerning TVM and the quality of its programming by also expressing their expectations, criticisms and suggestions for this national channel.
