English Abstract

This project intends to investigate the question of the (re)integration of young Moroccan emigrants who return to Morocco to settle permanently.

This work is based on a set of conversations with young males and females having lived the experience of return to and permanent establishment in the homeland.

The different conversations I had with these young repatriates allow us to gain an insight into the different levels (linguistic, cultural and economic) at which difficulties are encountered.

This work was motivated by the fact that very little consideration has been given to Moroccan emigrants after they have returned to Morocco.

And this, I think, is rather unfair.

My premise in this work was that young returning emigrants encounter specific problems which make their return and subsequent experience in the homeland somehow problematic.

After having talked with these young people, I realized that, indeed, they have had specific problems reintegrating within their country.

However, I also learnt that coming to settle in Morocco did not turn out badly for all of them.

I learnt that many young people are now happy with their return.

I think that the experience should be made the least traumatic possible.

This work is an attempt to see-on a very small scale—what the problems are with a view to influence people (either from the authorities or the ordinary layperson or even the emigrants themselves) to think more about returning emigrants.
