Abstract EN

The aim of this study is to design a suggested model for developing the school principals› roles in building the knowledge society in post- basic education schools in the Sultanate of Oman.

To achieve the objectives of this study, the researchers designed a questionnaire composed of (53) questions.

After checking and verifying the validity and reliability of the questionnaire, it was distributed among a study sample composed of (157) individuals, (70) school principals and (87) deputy principals who were requested to respond to the items of the questionnaire.

To evaluate the responses, means, standard deviation and T- test were employed.

The results showed that the role of the school principals in building the knowledge society at post–basic education schools in the Sultanate of Oman was moderate.

It showed the absence of statistically significant differences at the level of (a ≤ 0.05) in the role of school principals in building the knowledge society at post- basic education schools due to variables of gender, experience and grade.

However, statistically significant differences were found at the level of (a ≤ 0.05) due to the variable of post designation in favor of school principals.

In the light of the findings of the study, the researchers recommend utilizing this model to develop the role of school principals in developing the knowledge society at post- basic education schools in the Sultanate of Oman.
