Abstract EN

This paper examines the subject of self-lamentation poetry, where a comparative analysis is conducted between the self-lamentation poems of the Umayyad poet Malik bin Alraib Altamimi and the Saudi poet Ghazi bin Abdulrahman Algusabi; through an introduction that highlights the importance of the subject, the research question, the approach and the structure of the research.

A literature review will follow that will serve as a foundation for this research with examples of self-lamentation poetry in the Arabic literature, as well as the physiological and psychological roots of this phenomena.

The comparative analysis is conducted through several stages which are: First, a comparative introductions and definitions of the two poets will be introduced; then, an observation of the surrounding ambiance of the two self-lamentation poems will be provided highlighting the differences between them; after that, an illustration of the initiation method “the concern issue” in each of poems will be presented; finally, the cognitive foundations of the two lamentation poems will be discussed including the different components of the technical analysis which consist of: the type of fiction and the imaginative application, the characteristics of wordings and the homogeneity of style, and the psychological status and the musical structure.

Finally, a conclusion will be presented that will go over the results of the analysis.
