Abstract EN

The Algerian economy experienced -during the period of 2000-2010- a continuing recovery in the financial and monetary situation, the internal and the external one and an accumulation in the exchange reserves which led to an increase in net foreign assets.

The latter represents one of the main sources of money supply, what resulted in a large monetary expansion which caused excessive structural cash liquidity in banks, such a situation requires a reform in monetary policy instruments based on the prevailing monetary situation

L’économie algérienne a connu, durant la période s'étalant entre 2000 et 2010, une croissance continue de la situation financière et monétaire, tant interne qu’externe, et une accumulation dans les réserves de change.

Cela s’est traduit par une augmentation importante des disponibilités en devises qui représentent, par ailleurs, une des principales sources d’offre de monnaie.

Cette situation a permis une expansion monétaire causant une liquidité structurellement excessive au niveau des banques, ce qui a nécessité une réforme des instruments de la politique monétaire
